Hot off the presses, The Delian Mode had its first screening at London’s Southbank Centre as part of the Ether Music Festival. Curated and introduced by participating performer and old pal Peaches, the film played to an enthusiastic audience of electronic music fans. Fun times in London!

In an effort to leave no stone unturned on my Delia Derbyshire research adventures, I decided to visit the place where Delia spent her final years, Northampton, UK. It was a pleasant 2 hour train trip from Manchester. Debarking the train I was immediately struck by a familiar song drifting towards me. It was the Dr. Who theme tune, the very piece of music that Ms. Derbyshire was famous for. Obviously, I was in the right place. It took me a while to pinpoint the cellphone responsible for the ringtone. I had to smile. Who was stalking who that day Delia?

I spent the past week at the University of Manchester, soft-stepping through the Delia Derbyshire archives. Personal letters, scribbles, wayward objects and oh yes, 267 tapes of unheard material; a collection which has serendipitously come to light just as I am completing The Delian Mode.

KARAppo OKEsutura: a collection of works involving chamber ensemble, voice and manipulated karaoke tapes composed by the super talented Nicole Lizée. I had some remix fun of my own using archival footage, Super 8 film and a darkroom to create the visual accompaniment for This Heat.
